Laptop Screen Replacement in Accra
A cracked or faulty screen is one of the most common laptop repairs. Before replacing anything, we confirm whether the problem is the screen panel itself, the display cable or the board — so you don't pay for a new screen you don't need.
We replace screens for HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and Apple MacBook laptops, including touchscreen and high-resolution models, at our workshop in Accra.

Signs your laptop screen needs repair
- Cracked glass, or a black "ink" patch that spreads after a fall or pressure
- Vertical or horizontal coloured lines
- Flickering, or the picture disappears when you move the lid
- A very dim picture that you can only just see with a torch
- A white, pink or blank screen while the laptop is clearly running
- Touch not responding on a touchscreen model
Common causes
Physical damage
Drops, pressure on the lid, or closing it on a pen or earphones cracks the panel. Cracks usually spread over time.
Display cable
A worn or loose cable often causes flickering or lines that change when the lid moves.
Backlight fault
The panel shows a picture but the light behind it has failed, so the image is very dark.
Graphics or board fault
If an external monitor also shows lines or no picture, the fault is on the board, not the screen.
What you can check first
- Connect an external monitor or TV with an HDMI cable. If the picture is normal there, the laptop screen or its cable is the problem.
- Move the lid slowly. If the lines or flicker change with the angle, the display cable is a likely cause.
- Shine a torch at the screen. If you can faintly see the desktop, it is usually a backlight fault.
- Avoid pressing on a cracked screen — cracks spread and can damage the touch layer.
How we fix it at PhGhana
- Free diagnosis: we confirm whether the fault is the panel, the cable or the board.
- We match the exact panel for your model — size, resolution, connector, and touch or non-touch — and give you the full cost.
- With your approval we fit the new screen.
- We test brightness, colour, dead pixels and touch before you collect it.
Cost and repair time
Diagnosis is free. Our service charge starts from ₵80, depending on the job, and the screen is charged at current market price. We tell you the full cost before we start — nothing is done without your approval. If we can't fix it, you pay nothing.
Most screen replacements are done the same day or within 24 hours when the panel is available. Some touchscreen and high-resolution panels need to be sourced for your exact model — we tell you how long before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Can a cracked laptop screen be repaired, or must it be replaced?
A cracked LCD panel can't be repaired — the panel is replaced. The rest of the laptop is usually fine, so a screen replacement brings it back to full use.
Why does my laptop screen show lines?
Lines come from a damaged panel, a faulty display cable or, less often, a graphics fault. Testing with an external monitor tells us which. We diagnose it free.
Do you replace touchscreen laptop screens?
Yes, including touchscreen and high-resolution panels. These sometimes have to be sourced for your exact model; we tell you the cost and the time first.
How much does it cost?
Diagnosis is free. Our service charge starts from ₵80, depending on the job, and the screen is charged at current market price. We tell you the full cost before we start — nothing is done without your approval. If we can't fix it, you pay nothing.
